Africa’s oldest republic, Liberia gained independence from the United States on July 26, 1847. Currently led by President George Manneh Weah, the West African nation has an estimated population of 4 million people spread across a total land area of 111,369 km². As of 2018, Liberia recorded a GDP of $5.6billion, with its top exports Gold, Passenger and Cargo Ships, Crude Petroleum, Iron Ore, and Rubber, sold to trading partners that include Switzerland, Germany, India, United Kingdom, and China. Liberia’s administrative capital is located in Monrovia, and its official currency is the Liberian Dollar (LRD).
