Cape Verde

A former Portuguese colony, Cape Verde gained independence from Portugal on July 5, 1975. Currently led by President Jorge Carlos Fonseca, Cape Verde, comprising of ten islands, has an estimated population of 512,096 people spread across a total land area of 4,033 km². As of 2018, Cape Verde recorded a GDP of $3.6billion, with its top exports Processed Fish, Non-fillet Frozen Fish, Footwear Parts, Non-Knit Men's Suits, and Molluscs, sold to trading partners that include Spain, Portugal, Italy, United States, and India. Its administrative capital is located in Praia, with the Cape Verdean escudo (CVE) serving as its official currency.
